My name is Naomi Markovic. I’m so glad you’re interested in starting your musical journey with us. Playing the piano is a skill of a lifetime, one that helps children relax and shape their character.
As a mother, I believe children should have opportunities that are uniquely theirs, to develop their kochos and feel special. Understandably, life has a way of getting busy. Adding in enriching extracurriculars is a widespread challenge.
Our piano programs are designed to make it easy to access and experience a quality piano education.
With so much going on, we need to give our children creative ways to decompress and express themselves. Learning piano is intellectually satisfying, and, when experienced more fully, is much more than exercise for the brain. It is a channel to the heart and soul.

So, why me?
I am the owner and head instructor of Shir Piano Studio.
Raised in Baltimore, MD, USA, I studied at the Preparatory school of the Peabody Conservatory, as well as headed and performed in countless community and school events. After continuing piano studies in Jerusalem, I received my Masters in Music Management from Columbia College of Chicago. I currently reside in Jerusalem, where I’ve been teaching piano for over 14 years, to local and international students. Shir Piano Studio is unique in that we cover hard-core piano skills, sight reading and technique, as well as teach how to intuitively play popular and traditional Jewish music.
Using techniques I have developed over the past 14 years, I help my students learn the piano quickly, and in a way that feels fun and relevant. Whether your child is a beginner or is looking to take their studies to the next level, I can help. At the heart of Shir Piano Studio’s individualized curriculum are the needs and values of our students and parents.
Naomi’s Fun Facts
I have students from every continent except Antarctica.
The first 2 songs I remember playing by ear on the piano are “Tale as Old as Time” (Beauty and the Beast) and “Don’t Walk in Front of Me I May Not Follow” (Uncle Moishy)…and I still love both of these songs, 30 years later!
I’m grateful to live within walking distance of the כותל (and wish I got there more often)!
I enjoy cooking and baking (especially for Shabbos), but have a thing for changing something in whatever recipe I’m using.
